"Rodeo Daze" Cottonworks Westernwear Project Spring 2025

1st Place winner - FiberMax Center for Discovery ADM Cotton Competition

For this fun western garment, I was challenged to create a sustainable western-themed garment using 100% cotton fabrics.

Made to make you want to move, this ensemble features design choices that invite the wearer to twirl, dip, and dance at the Houston Rodeo. I conducted market and trend research with a focus on rodeo-goers to design a collection of Westernwear garments before selecting one to create physically. The garment itself is made from 100% cotton fabrics, with repurposed fabric scraps as appliqués on the skirt.

The purpose of each garment in the collection was to be mix-and-matchable to each other and other garments one might find in their closet. The tie shut closure on the top piece allows the top to fit women of various bust sizes while maintaining the cute and comfortable look. The brightly colored fringe along the hem of the skirt are a fun accent to the exciting colors featured throughout the design.
